Google Cloud Next just dropped a full stack of data agents – and most people haven't noticed yet.

Here's what they actually announced – all GA or in preview right now:

  • Data Engineering Agent (GA) – describe a pipeline in plain language, it builds specs, you review, it ships. No boilerplate. No hours of setup.
  • Data Science Agent (GA) – from natural language to ML model in Colab. Feature engineering, training, accuracy scores. What used to take weeks now takes minutes.
  • Conversational Analytics in BigQuery (GA) – business users asking forecasting, anomaly detection, and driver analysis questions. No SQL. No analyst in the loop.
  • Deep Dive / Deep Data Research (Preview) – structured BigQuery + unstructured sources + live web, synthesized into a full report. One prompt, long-form output.
  • BigQuery MCP Server (GA) – fully managed, no glue code. Plug any agent framework directly into BigQuery. Jobs grew 20x in 6 months.
  • Google Cloud Data Agent Kit (Preview) – VS Code extension + plugins for Gemini CLI and Codex. Build, explore, and chat with data without switching tools.

VMware O2 (45M connections, 16K employees) is already running this in production. 700 employees, 12,000 answers served. One user wrote: "This is the best tool I've ever seen built at this company." – and he's been in telecom for 20 years.

We just crossed the line where data access stopped being a privilege.
