For years, social posts were judged mostly inside the platform where they were published.

Instagram showed reach.

TikTok showed views.

YouTube showed retention.

X showed impressions.

But if that same content started bringing traffic from Google Search, most teams could barely see it.

Now Google Search Console is rolling out a report for social and video platforms: Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and X.

You can finally see:

  • which social posts appear in Google Search
  • which queries trigger them
  • how many impressions they get
  • how many clicks they send

How to add it:

1. Open Google Search Console.

2. Click the property selector.

3. Choose “Add property”.

4. Select one of the available platforms: Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or X.

5. Follow the verification steps and authorize the connection.

6. Wait for the report to start collecting data.

This is bigger than another reporting feature.

It changes how we should think about social content.
