Why does leadership see green while teams see chaos?

Executive dashboards are calm by design. ROAS stable. CAC “acceptable”. Growth arrows pointing up.

Meanwhile, teams fight lead quality, attribution shifts, and unexplained drops. I’ve seen revenue contradict dashboards more than once.

High-level aggregation usually hides friction:

• channel-level degradation
• segment-level drops
• data-quality issues
• attribution shifts

So in a nutshell... The picture is optimized for reassurance, not control.

What usually gets overlooked?

The more aggregated the view, the easier it is to hide systemic errors. Without data-quality signals, a dashboard becomes a showroom.

How I separate signal from comfort

I add a data-health layer: unattributed share, modeled traffic share, GA4 vs CRM gaps, duplicate checks, export delays. And I split dashboards - one for KPIs, one for whether KPIs are trustworthy.
